Welcome To College Football

So recently I found some interesting things online that pertain to GT.

First is this video that if you haven't seen it you 100% need to. It's such a good embodiment of why so many go to this school. I truly can attest to the feeling that the video conveys. It is so amazing what all of the Students, Faculty, Staff, Researchers, Athletes, Administration, and Clubs do on campus. Everyone here is striving to be great and when something awesome happens, like discovering gravitational waves or ending a 1,133 day ACC streak, the whole student body gets hype behind it.

And from news on the other side of the pond....

Georgia Tech has arrived in Ireland and is gearing up to play Boston College at 7:30A.M

The locals are getting really excited for the game. Even some are rooting for the Yellow Jackets despite BC having Irish ties due to the city.

However one funny tidbit popped up on the sales racks in Dublin.

At least the colors are right. I'm really looking forward to the Georgia vs. Georgia game later this fall in Athens. Not to mention all the confusion of our new Irish fandom on why we say "To Hell With Ourselves!"

Thanks for reading and GO JACKETS!

Career Fair and the Internship

This past summer I gratefully was able to participate in an internship with Siemens Industry.

I am so thankful that I was able to have this experience.

I was working in the Low Energy sector. During this internship I directly used knowledge I learned at Tech. The most important knowlege came from a class that I took right before in the spring, ME1770. This class teaches 3d design and was so vital to my success at Siemens.

But I want to talk about the career fair a little bit since that is coming up

Here I want to spread some knowledge on how to land your first internship.

First of all, EVEN AS A FIRST YEAR, you need to go to the career fair. I know this might be seen as an obvious tip, but its amazing how many first years I see skip the career fair just because they think they have no marketable skills. Of course first years do, you got accepted into this school in the first place didn't you?

However, some companies are looking for previous internship or research positions. These are harder to obtain as a first year, but go to them anyways and get experience in giving your elevator pitch. It may hurt if and when you are turned down but do not be discouraged.

Thirdly, do not ignore the smaller companies. They are also respected in their own fields and will get you noticed by larger companies.

WORK ON THAT RESUME. There are many groups at GT that do resume workshops. Even my fraternity did one that was super helpful.

NETWORK. Don't forget the career fair is not the only way to get in touch with companies. Most of the first years I know including my self who got internships met with companies either through separate programs or events.

And with the internship have fun. At Siemens I met so many friends and learned so many things I can not explain how valuable it was. The relationship I gained with Siemens is also an amazing thing to have. I also got to experience Atlanta in a different way than I do at Tech with a group of interns that are from everywhere.

Even though most of this was basic information I really do hope that I could inspire at least one person to go to the career fair.

Best of luck to everyone out there! And don't worry, I will be there to.

This Pastner Stuff is Golden

Let it be known that one of my favorite twitter accounts is @NotCoachJohnson , mainly for regularly producing hilarious tidbits like this:

So basically I like completely ridiculous GT sports stuff. So when I found the @FantasyPastner I had to  give it a follow.

Reading through the recent tweets it looks like that Pastner, or the Fake Pastner twitter owner, took a little visit (or lives in????) to my hometown Dunwoody's fair called Lemonade days.

Yeah I was there and saw a guy wearing a Memphis shirt. Is that youuuu Pastner????

But the current #GolfGate that is happening right now is too good for even the best parody accounts.

And more gold
Including my own contributions

This may be the most hyped off  season thing I've seen about GT sports in a while. Some people may be questioning the Pastner hire, but I love it.

Hes going to need to learn those four words well.

THWg!!

What the Heck Happened on Techwood Wednesday?

So I woke up to this:

Walking to class out of my freshman dorm on Wednesday I saw many blue lights up near 5th street. Particularly because it looked like all of the cop cars were in front of my fraternity, I had to go investigate. I had no idea to expect.

Gas leak?

Movie shoot?

Finally discovering the Meth Lab in the basement?

(lol just kidding closest thing to that we got at Tech is MyMathLab. Get it? Math? Meth? Heh. Heh.)

Well anyways investigating the scene did not reveal at all what was going on. The nearby frat houses were still all occupied, and the police were meandering down the alleyway between KA and Skull House. Like come on the cop cars totaled to somewhere round 4 GT, 1 undercover, 1 Emory, 1 Atlanta, 1 Midtown and a GT cop on a bicycle (you go dude).

Well evidently something did happen:

Yeah evidently GTPD helped APD aprehend a bank robbery suspect. Good Job guys!

Scarier thing is I saw this walking to my 9A.M. so either I'm just late to class more than I realize or was there while suspect apprehension was still going on ðŸ˜±

Oh and in sports all games (Baseball/Softball) against Athens didn't go well but I got a cool THWg shirt so yeah!!!!

Go Jackets!!

Guess Who's Back

I am.

So its been a few months since I posted on my blog. Yeah stuff has happened of course so I'm going to have to do the crash course edition right here:

georgia game happened.

Finals happened (Ramblin Wrecked)

Basketball happened

A whole Spring semester flew by

I guess the reason why I haven't posted is because I haven't "found time". This is a poor excuse because obviously over a whole semester I had some time. So in reality I was just lazy.

And here I am writing a blog post so I can procrastinate further on this English homework.

Right.

So I will admit that I guess I was discouraged to write a blog post because of a double whammy combo of events that hit me. We lost the georgia game. Yeah that sucked. I mean one of the reasons behind the blog was to talk about sports. And I really didn't want to talk about that. Second finals and grades wrecked me(but don't they to everyone?). I had not posted about the georgia game by that point so that just hit me double reason not to post.

Also, honestly I still haven't really been hit with the value of GPA yet. Yeah its a number that will determine if I get Zell/Hope next year. However, even though I am facing some immense challenges it hasn't barred me from achieving goals that depend on that number, such as a internship this summer(future blog post about that?). Most of all I am glad I am doing better this semester and very thankful for my internship.

So far the highlight of this semester was all the GT Basketball I went to. Saw some awesome games, witnessed some tough defeats.

And got sooooooo close on getting on the Ramblin Reck Club.

Obviously trying again next year. My hopes are up as I made it to the final round and networked with a lot of members. I felt my passion for the Reck and GT is there. I will be an even better applicant for next year.

But right now mentioning that is just a no shame way to fit pictures in this blog post.

For the RRC application I took some drone pictures of Tech stuff, enjoy!!!!

Go Jackets!!

^^Had to shrink this one to fit on blogger but original looks beautiful. Here's the original link to my RRC app. Shoving it down here because I hate to hear myself speak and if you read this far you are dedicated enough to see it
